Do you like to get creative at home? Whether that’s making cartoons, furniture, pottery, prints, fabrics, or clothes? Then we have the group for you!
We are launching an exciting new group ‘The Crafty Corner’, a space where you will get to explore, experiment, and express your creative side. In every workshop we will explore a story from the museum’s collection about a trade or craft and create an artistic response to its themes, craft process or medium.
There will be opportunities in some sessions to learn from visiting artists and work together as a group to create some amazing crafts – from woodwork to fabrics.
In this session we will learn more about Nathan Seaberg, who came to the UK from Riga, Latvia and worked as a shoemaker from his home in Hightown, Manchester in the 1910s. Learn more about the amazing high leather boots Nathan created and be inspired to design and create your own pair of shoes!
This group is open to anyone over the age of 18, and to all identities, backgrounds, and cultures. Don’t worry if this is your first time making crafts, we welcome beginners and seasoned pros and believe in the power of supporting one another in getting creative!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The session is open to anyone aged 18 and more, of any level that is interested in exploring arts and crafts– beginners and seasoned pros!
The workshop is 1 hour and 30 minutes and there will be refreshments provided.
All materials are included as part of the workshop but do feel free to bring any creations you are working on to share with the group! We’d love to see! Please note that we won’t be using real leather.
Our building includes step free access to the entrance via a ramp, a lift to the first floor, level access throughout the ground floor and accessible gender neutral toilets.
