Would you like to become a Museum Foodie? Our Foodie Group meet monthly to discuss, cook and eat food together. Our dishes and recipes are inspired by stories from our collection, artists and events we programme, as well as our own members’ heritage and backgrounds. Our workshops are informal, chatty and a chance to meet new people as well as learn about new recipes and cooking traditions.

This month we invite you to join us for a special, Shavuot edition of our Foodie Group workshop. Beginning on the 25th May, Shavuot is the two-day festival that commemorates G-d giving the Torah to the Jewish people on Mount Sinai over 3000 years ago.

In celebration it is customary for Jewish people to eat sweet and dairy foods such as Rugelach (filled baked pastries). So join us as we play around with different sweet and dairy fillings and bake our own Rugelach together. You will get to go home with some delicious sweet treats!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This activity is designed for adults of all ages.

We are always looking for our members to get involved or co-host our monthly sessions. If you’d be interested in sharing a family recipe, something you’ve grown up eating or cooking, or a dish/recipe that is close to your heart, that would be suitable to explore in this type of group setting, please email Demi at demi@manchesterjewishmuseum.com

Please note we use all vegetarian approved ingredients but the food is not ‘Beth Din’ supervised.

If you have any allergies, or would like more information on our Foodie Group please email demi@manchesterjewishmuseum.com in advance.
