Would you like to become a Museum Foodie?

Our Foodie Group meet monthly to discuss, cook and eat food inspired by stories from our collection, artists and events we programme, as well as our own members’ heritage and backgrounds. Our workshops are informal, chatty and a chance to meet new people as well as learn about new recipes and cooking traditions.

This month we invite you to join us for a special recipe sharing edition of Foodie Group.

2024 marks the 150th anniversary of our synagogue and as part of the celebrations we will be creating a time capsule to commemorate the stories of our local community and the people who are part of our museum. We are going to create a recipe book of our Foodie Group members’ special recipes – ones that have been passed down by family members, shared by friends or something you’ve mastered and love to cook for your nearest and dearest.

So please join us and bring along a recipe that you’d like to be included in our time capsule recipe book! Food and refreshments will be provided for us to enjoy whilst we learn about each other’s recipes.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

This activity is designed for adults of all ages and FREE to attend.

Please note we use all vegetarian approved ingredients but the food is not ‘Beth Din’ supervised. If you have any allergies or would like more information on our Foodie Group please email Elly at elly@manchesterjewishmuseum.com

We are always looking for our group members to get involved or co-host our monthly sessions. If you’d be interested in sharing a family recipe, something you’ve grown up eating or cooking, or a dish/recipe that is close to your heart, that would be suitable to explore in this type of group setting, please email Elly at elly@manchesterjewishmuseum.com

Related Events

This month we will be learning about the incredible street photographer Fred Stein from his own son and Hollywood cinematographer, Peter Stein. Peter will share with us his father’s work and the story of his life, from fleeing Nazi Germany to photographing many of the great personalities of the 20th century in New York.
