Join once again for the final day of Cheetham Cultural Festival 2026!
We will be opening our doors for free for anyone to visit with a day of workshops, performances, food tasting and stories celebrating amazing communities in our local area.
During your visit you’ll be able to discover more about Manchester Jewish Museum through exploring our gallery and finding out about the communities who prayed in our Grade II* listed 1874 Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue.
You can also catch the final week of ‘Through a Queer Lens‘, an exhibition of photographic portraits celebrating prominent LGBT+ Jewish figures. You’ll even have the chance to contribute your own picture to the exhibition and help us continue to diversify the stories and people represented in our museum.
There’ll be plenty of opportunities to get creative too. Take a taste of the work made by our free creative groups, explore the Iraqi Jewish roots of marzipan, and have a go at decorating and crafting your own sweets to take home.
You can also create your own artwork inspired by the beautiful stained-glass windows in our Synagogue.
And our Synagogue will come alive with music, poetry and performance throughout the afternoon:
- At 1 and 3pm, our Song-writing Group will perform a medley of new songs and poetry that explores the history of Cheetham Hill Road, exploring themes of belonging, togetherness, and what home means to them.
- At 2pm, MAD Theatre will perform a special piece created with young people from New Testament Church of God as part of Black History Month.
It’s also a good opportunity to try out our café and get a taste of some amazing baked treats and something to drink.
As always, we also encourage you to check the full programme of the festival and go visit other amazing venues in Cheetham Hill!
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our Museum Open Day is FREE but capacity is limited so online bookings are encouraged. You can arrive anytime between 12pm and 3pm, regardless of the time shown on your ticket (book any of the available time slots). Last entry is at 3pm.
All activities happening on the day are drop-in and open to all ages. When spaces fill up, we will encourage you to have a look around the museum and come back for the activity at a later time.
We are unable to store bags and we would advise not bringing large bags with you when you visit.
Our museum Cafe will be open for light refreshments throughout the day, but won’t be serving the hot food menu. We will have guides on side to answer any questions you may have about the stories on the gallery.
