Join us on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday and discover the story of Manchester’s Jewish community through art, hands-on activities, and interactive tours. This event is organised as part of Jewish Culture Month 2026.

From 11am–2pm, explore our beautiful museum galleries and the 1874 Spanish and Portuguese synagogue with our volunteer guides. Hear the stories of Jewish families who journeyed to Manchester and built thriving communities in the city, and discover what life was like in Jewish Manchester through the generations. You’ll also have the chance to see our remarkable 150-year-old time capsule, uncovered within the walls of the building.

Between 1pm-4pm get hands-on with objects from our collection and learn more about Jewish culture, traditions, and festivals through interactive object handling.

Between 11am-3pm you can also head to our Learning Studio, where you can create your own artwork inspired by the stunning stained-glass patterns of the synagogue windows.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The museum will be open as usual, from 10am to 5pm, with activities taking place from 11am to 3pm.

Our museum cafe will be open for food and drinks throughout the day – hot food served between 11:30am-2:30pm.
