Songs of Arrival
March 12 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm£8 – £10
A performance of songs based on the stories of Jewish refugees arriving in Cheetham from our oral history collection as well as contemporary stories of migration to Manchester. We explore how we try to assimilate in new places and what different communities can learn from each other.
This event is made possible with performance and support from Peter Brathwaite, Na’ama Zisser, Joe Steele, student performers from the RNCM and MAnchester Jewish Museum’s Community Song-writing Group.
The show will feature original songs by composer Na’ama Zisser based on the stories of Jewish refugees arriving in Manchester that feature in the Museum’s collection. The museum’s community song-writing group will also be performing songs inspired by the stories of Marie Zweig and Ilse Jacobs whose oral history testimonies are part of the museum’s collection.
With different styles of song and different experiences, come along to this moving and joyous performance where we give voice to historical and modern stories.
Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) plus booking fee. Click here to book tickets.
