Cheetham Feast

1st December 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Come along to our FREE Cheetham Feast. Learn how to make bread, enjoy a yummy 3 course meal and make friends across the table.

Manchester Jewish Museum is organising this free event as part of our food project which explores all the different  foods of Cheetham. Everyone is welcome! Book your place here

Manchester Jewish Museum is currently a Wandering Museum while a major redevelopment takes place in its Cheetham Hill home. When the museum re-opens in 2021, a community learning kitchen – the first of its kind in Manchester – will be the site of a diverse range of activities. As part of its ‘wandering’ activities in the city, the team at Manchester Jewish Museum are working with artist and food studies researcher Leo Burtin to test out this developing food programming strand.

Using diverse examples of Jewish food as a starting point, we are exploring cultural food connections related to the theme of belonging. Food is considered as a traveller and migrant in terms of how certain foods and recipes arrived in Manchester and the roles they played within the Jewish communities. We are interested in exploring food as cultural identity, food as art and food as means of bringing people together.

The food at this event will be vegetarian. It is not under Beth Din Supervision. Please email Laura if you have any special dietary requirements or queries:
