Do you want to join a new group, meet new people and learn new skills? Are you nifty with a needle or can spin a good yarn? Our Women’s Textile Group is a great place to make new friends and practice your textile craft. Working with different artists and guest speakers, the group works on a variety of creative projects.

In this session, you will get the opportunity to meet writer and creative director Julia Pascal, whose show A Manchester Girlhood will be performed as part of the museum’s Synagogue Scratch season. Hear from Julia about the stories embedded into the show and how textiles play an important part in the characters’ lives – from wedding dresses to rag dolls. Julia will invite the group to develop some props for the performance, so be part of helping to bring to life the show!

Don’t worry if this is your first session, it’s a great time to get a flavour of the projects we work on and meet the group – you’d be most welcome! We are a friendly group open to any self-identifying woman, no sewing experience necessary.

Members of the textile group will also get to come and see the show and how their work is used, more information will be provided during the session.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Women’s Textile Group is FREE and open to any self-identifying women from any faith or background. We’ll provide refreshments and a friendly, safe and welcoming space.
