Creating Music Together
Museum Song-Writing Group

Learning Studio

Do you have a passion for music? Do you like the idea of writing your own songs? Do you like being part of group and expressing yourself?

Our song-writing group meets monthly to create new music inspired by the themes and stories in our collection and by the artists and events in our creative programme.

This session will be led by local composer and artist Michael Betteridge as we weave new lyrics and melodies inspired by objects and stories in the museum’s galleries. This group is perfect for anyone who likes to sing, write creatively, play instruments or just loves to be part of something. It’s a great space to find new inspiration and share ideas with a supportive group.

This June we will be working on new songs inspired by objects and stories from the collection and around themes of ‘change’ and ‘inspirational people’. We will be working towards a performance at The Den in July. The Den is a new pop-up theatre space in Cheetham Hill designed by The Royal Exchange Theatre.

No previous musical experience necessary – come along and give it a go!

We kindly ask you to sign up online, but if you’re unsure how to do it don’t worry – just come along and we will sign you up on the day.
