Roll up your sleeves and join us for a family-friendly Challah baking workshop! You will learn how to bake a Challah – a traditional Ashkenazi Jewish bread that is braided and traditionally eaten on ceremonial occasions such as Shabbat.

Our baking workshops are open to children and adults alike to try out baking traditional Jewish recipes. Discover the history behind Challah baking as you get hands-on in our brand new learning kitchen. Bring a friend or your family and enjoy baking together.

No experience necessary – perfect for baking beginners. You even get to take home what you bake! (or you can buy your own treats from our café).

What you need to know

Our baking workshops are designed for ages 6+ but all ages welcome. All children should be supervised.

Materials and ingredients will be provided. We use Kosher approved ingredients but the food is not Beth Din supervised. If you have any allergies please email dara@manchesterjewishmuseum.com in advance.

Places are limited so tickets should be booked in advance so we can safely manage distancing and capacity. We can’t guarantee that we will always be able to accommodate latecomers.

If you’re an M8 Member or an MJM Member, you can book a free ticket to this workshop – just login to your account and you will see a relevant free ticket type!
