Following a £6 million redevelopment our new museum includes a new gallery, café, shop and learning studio & kitchen as well as complete restoration of our stunning Spanish and Portuguese synagogue.
We are open seven days a week and tickets for general admission are on sale now for timed entries and can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance. Our museum can be busy on weekdays when we often have schools visiting. If you would like a more peaceful visit we would recommend visiting at weekends or after 2.30pm.
In England, face coverings are no longer required by law but the government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet. As such, we are still advising visitors to wear a face covering when moving around the museum.

On Friday 2 July 2021 we reopened our new museum with a building twice the size as before. Our synagogue has also been repaired, refurbished and its original decorative features reinstated.
Thank you to the National Heritage Lottery Fund and all our capital supporters who helped us achieve our ambitions.
Designed by award-winning architects, Citizens Design Bureau, our extension includes a new gallery, learning studio & kitchen, collection store, shop and vegetarian Kosher-style café.
A new gallery, designed by All Things Studio, showcases our collection based around the universal themes of journeys, communities and identities.
We are a place to experience how we are different, together.
Here, you can bake, sing, laugh, dance, cook, cry, get messy and make friends.
Using our collection and synagogue we connect Jewish stories, culture and traditions to the wider world. In doing so, we bring people together, showing we have more in common than separates us.
We make connections to make things better.
We are proud to be part of Manchester’s world-renowned culture scene. A city of artists, museums, galleries, theatres, music venues and spaces for making. Welcome back Manchester, we are open once more.
We have a growing community of artists, song-writers, textile enthusiasts, local residents and cultural and community partners.
Our community groups are a great opportunity to meet other people to share stories and cultural traditions – and we are always looking for new members.
Our new museum includes a brand-new learning studio and educational gallery as well as complete restoration of our synagogue, providing the perfect hands-on environment for schools wishing to learn more about Jewish culture.
We are offering two half day workshops from September: Synagogue & Sabbath and Festivals & Feasts. These can also be booked together as one full day, giving your students the full Manchester Jewish Museum experience.
