We enjoy welcoming adult groups to the museum for guided tours and talks.
There are 2 themes to choose from:
Jewish Manchester in 1912: Sweat Shops, Charity and the Titanic
By 1912 a large part of Manchester’s Jewish community was made up of immigrants from Eastern Europe. We’ll take you back to 1912 to meet 5 members of the local Jewish community. Our volunteers will bring their personal stories back to life through the Museum’s displays, exhibits and collection
Faith and the Synagogue
In Cheetham Hill in 1912 there were synagogues for every level of religious observance. You could always find a synagogue to suit you. You can explore the oldest surviving synagogue building in Manchester through the life of a Jewish man called Chaim Besso. Let Mr Besso’s story lead you around the synagogue and you will find out about kosher food, festivals and the synagogue itself.
