Discover Jewish Manchester on a Jewish Experience Day or on a Jewish Heritage Trail.
There is no better to way to learn about someone than to spend the day with them. This is exactly what The Jewish Experience aims to show you.
You may have seen Jewish people on the television, you may have read about the Jewish faith, but now you can find out how Jewish people in Manchester live their daily lives. The Jewish Experience gives you the opportunity to enjoy a day out around the Jewish community of North Manchester.
The day will be spent visiting Jewish shops, a Jewish sports centre, a Jewish day care centre and will include a kosher lunch at a Jewish restaurant.
The experience will also include a tour of the beautiful Manchester Jewish Museum, where you will learn about the history of the Museum and discuss synagogue worship and the history of Manchester's Jewish community.
The Jewish Experience is aimed mainly at adult groups or for students at GCSE level.
Price: £15 per person for the full day (including a kosher lunch)
Step into the past with local historian Merton Paul and let him take you on a walking tour around the old Jewish Quarter of Cheetham Hill. Allow him to bring back to life the characters and institutions that made up this once vibrant hub of Jewish activity.
You will learn how the people of this community, often refugees from Eastern Europe, strove to bring up their families, earn a living and establish themselves as part of the fabric of Manchester, without abandoning the Jewish religious and cultural traditions handed down to them by their ancestors.
Price: £7 per Adult £5 Concession
