Simon Schatzberger is Woody Allen in this hilarious homage to the iconic American comedian. Witness the uncanny transformation as Schatzberger recreates Allen’s legendary stand-up sets of the 1960s in the intimate surroundings of Manchester Jewish Museum.
Opening the evening, jazz singer Julie Schatzberger, (his sister) and guitarist Andrew Hedges complete the complete the tribute, performing the songs and music from Allen’s timeless movie soundtracks.
Simon’s acting appearances include Band of Brothers, Black Books, Eastenders and The Cottage, working with directors such as Tom Hanks, Tom Hooper, Mike Leigh and actors including Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes, Bill Bailey and Hayley Atwell.
He first heard and loved Woody’s stand-up comedy in the ‘90s when his brother bought him the cassettes. A mere twenty years later he had the idea of performing the routines, playing sell out shows in London and Edinburgh for Woody fans and people discovering his early days as a stand-up and this brilliant material for the first time.
“mesmerising, like travelling back in time and seeing him live”
“uncanny, fans of Allen and his 60s routines will love it” Time Out
“big laughs, the stand-up beautifully, vividly recreated”
