Traces of the First World War
November 11 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Sunday 11th November, Manchester Jewish Museum, 11am-4pm – free but ticketed. Reserve your ticket
Join us for a family day of remembrance for the centenary of the end of the first World War. We will explore the stories of the six boys from our synagogue’s congregation who died in the war through activities, conversation and reflection. The day will start with a minute’s silence at 11am.
12-2pm Printed Postcards: WW1 stories and the trace we leave behind – family printing workshop.
Come along to our postcard making workshop. We will be inspired by the stories of six young Sephardi boys who were members of our synagogue and went to fight in the war but did not return. Join artist Charlotte Tupper to try out fun and easy printing techniques to create your own commemoration of the impact of the war on Cheetham Hill’s communities.
As an Associate Artist at Nottingham Contemporary, Charlotte Tupper develops and delivers innovative art projects to audiences including schools, families, adult community groups and as part of youth programmes.
11.30-4pm Curator led workshops exploring stories and items related to the Great War.
