This Summer the museum will be running a free programme of workshops and talks. They will be run by the museum’s artist in residence, Torange Khonsari, who is exploring links between the museum, its local park and cultural heritage in Cheetham Hill. Activities will be held at both the museum and in Cheetham Park.
In the final talk delivered as part of the series, Sarah Baines, associate curator at the Museum of Science and Industry, will provide a fascinating introduction into the textile industry in the Manchester region. She’ll explore questions about when and why the industry grew in Manchester and why cotton was the material of choice. Sarah will provide an overview of the vast textile industry collections held by MOSI and focus on the symbols used in textile patterns for the global market.
The talk is free but places are limited. To book a free place or enquire about any of the above please contact Torange on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The museum’s artist in residency is kindly funded by The Leverhulme Trust.
