November 5 @ 7:00 pm - November 18 @ 10:00 pm
The Ofrenda will be in our bar area throughout the festival.
To celebrate Day of the Dead in Mexico, people build ‘Ofrendas’ to remember friends, family and people of significance. Ofrendas are brightly coloured displays including tables filled with photographs, flowers, candles, food and significant objects. They are a central part of celebrating those we have loved and lost, from close family to our heroes from music or sport.
Ofrendas are built in people’s homes, in schools, places of work, bars, restaurants and public squares.
This Ofrenda is a collaboration between artists in Mexico City at The Faro De Oriente and UK artist Ellie Harrison and The Grief Series.
You can contribute the Ofrenda by:
- Adding a flower
- Writing a name, a message or writing about a significant object that reminds you of someone (“A football for my brother Paul” or “a guitar for Hendrix” )
- Donating a photo of someone you love or admire, from your great grandma to David Bowie
- Making an offering of food or drink (a beer for my dad or an orange for my sister)
